Works are ramping up on site ahead of the multi-million dollar upgrade of Morayfield train station, which will deliver a major refurbishment and improve accessibility for the local community.
State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan said local residents would notice increased activity at the site in coming weeks.
“Starting this month, the project team will establish a site compound on Visentin Road and materials will begin to be delivered,” Mr Ryan said.
“Already, the project team has made excellent progress, having constructed new foundations for the overhead power masts, which need to be relocated to create a safe working area for the construction team throughout the upgrade.
“In late January and throughout February, work on the overhead power lines will continue, taking place during the night to ensure day time train services are not disrupted.
“During this time, the local community may notice some minor noise at night and I’d like to thank them in advance for their patience while this important work is undertaken.
“The Morayfield station accessibility upgrade is an incredibly important project to ensure everyone in our community, including seniors and those who use mobility aids or prams, can access the station easily and safely.
“Key features of the upgrade will include a new pedestrian footbridge with lift access, a new station building and toilets, and a raised section of the platform to the assisted boarding point.
“The upgrade will also deliver improved lighting and security cameras, as well as accessibility features, such as accessible parking, upgraded hearing loops and tactile platform edge markers.”
The Morayfield station upgrade is being delivered as part of the Queensland Government’s ongoing Station Accessibility Upgrade Program and will support approximately 250 jobs in the Queensland construction industry.
