Whether they’re educating the community, responding to natural disasters or rescuing people in mortal danger the orange jumpsuits of our SES volunteers are an iconic part of our community.
State Member for Morayfield and Emergency Services Minister, Mark Ryan MP, recently joined committed volunteers raising much needed funds for our local State Emergency Services unit at the Bunnings annual Aussie Day Weekend Fundraiser BBQ.
Team members ran sausage sizzles and received direct donations with every cent raised going directly to support our local SES Group.
“I wanted to say a big thank you to our volunteer emergency services for the fantastic work they do for our community,” Mr Ryan said.
“I was also able to convey my personal congratulations to volunteers Benay McNabb and David Visick for being recognised and awarded with Australia Day Achievement Medallions for excellence in leadership ensuring operational readiness and welfare of the Caboolture SES Group.”
Mr Ryan is also encouraging more locals to consider getting involved in their local SES group.
“I know for a fact that our local SES volunteers are an amazing group of people and they’re always eager for new volunteers to join their ranks,” he said.
“If you’re an active, adventurous, enthusiastic and community-minded person, then the SES might be for you.”
There are no joining fees and volunteers are provided with protective clothing and relevant equipment based on their role within an SES Group.
The Caboolture SES Group meets every Wednesday evening at 7:00pm at 10-12 Machinery Parade, Caboolture. Alternatively, the Deception Bay & Surrounding Suburbs SES Group also trains every Wednesday at 7:00pm at 24 Old Bay Road, Deception Bay.
