Roadworks to improve motorist safety at the intersection of Beerburrum and Pumicestone roads in Caboolture will start soon.
State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan said several crashes had been recorded at the intersection over the past few years.
“The majority of these crashes are caused by motorists trying to find gaps in traffic, while attempting to turn right into Beerburrum Road,” he said.
“Road widening, adding dual turning lanes, increasing storage capacity and adjusting traffic signal sequencing will enhance the journey for motorists.
“This will also serve as a better access point for the nearby industrial area.”
Mr Ryan said congestion and turning lane capacity had been identified as an issue.
“A significant number of vehicles travel through this area each day so the upgrade will be a great benefit to motorists and the local community,” he said.
“This project aims to reduce the number of crashes and provide a much safer road for motorists to navigate.”
Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said an investment of $2.3 million has been provided through the State Government’s Targeted Road Safety program.
“This program aims to improve road safety and focuses on implementing high-benefit, cost-effective solutions to prevent crashes and incidents on Queensland roads,” he said.
Construction is expected to start in late March.
