Resources available to recognise local Grandparents

30 September 2015

In the lead up to Grandparents Day on Sunday 25 October, a raft of online resources is now available to help recognise the significant contribution of grandparents.

State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan MP, said with Grandparents Day only a month away, now was a good time to think about how the special day would be celebrated.

“The Queensland Government has a range of downloadable e-cards, bookmarks, posters and certificates of recognition available online to help celebrate the special day,” Mr Ryan said.

“Statistics show that around 937,000 Australian children regularly receive child care from a grandparent, which represents over a quarter of all children who regularly attend some type of child care.

“Grandparents play a vital role to support families and the community and I encourage everyone to use these resources to show their appreciation.”

Mr Ryan said Grandparents Day is a chance for children and the community to connect with their grandparents and thank them for their love and support.

“If you are organising a Grandparents Day activity or event, you can register the details into the online calendar of events on the website.

“The website also includes useful information and ideas on how to celebrate Grandparents Day.”

The theme for this year is “celebrate your special connection”.
