Nominations open for 2017 Queensland Multicultural Awards

24 March 2017

The Palaszczuk Government is calling on the state’s top multicultural champions to nominate for a 2017 Queensland Multicultural Award.

State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan MP, said the awards had acknowledged the outstanding contributions of Queenslanders since 1990.

“The Queensland Multicultural Awards are a terrific opportunity to recognise the significant contributions of individuals and businesses who support, promote and value cultural diversity in this great state,” Mr Ryan said.

“They also aim to inspire others by showcasing the range of innovative ways being used to address community needs and promote unity, harmony and inclusion in Queensland.

“For 27 years, the awards have celebrated community volunteers, groups, businesses, government agencies and media whose long-term efforts in the multicultural sector have helped all Queenslanders to participate in our community and economy.

“This year, there are six categories and a special Minister’s Multicultural Award which will recognise an outstanding nominee.

“I encourage all Queenslanders who are passionate about multiculturalism to nominate for the awards.”

1.    Individual – under 25 years
2.    Individual – 25 years and over
3.    Local club or community group
4.    Community organisation (not for profit)
5.    Business or company (e.g. industry, finance, media)
