Minimbah State School students are benefiting from a safer school crossing as part of a Queensland Government initiative to improve road safety across Queensland.
State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan MP, said the new supervised crossing ensures greater safety outside Minimbah State School.
“Nothing is more important for us than ensuring our students can safety travel to and from school,” Mr Ryan said.
“Supervised crossings have a proven track record of protecting pedestrians and kids on the roads during peak times before and after school.
“I know the school community has welcomed the new supervisor as a boost for safety.”
Minister for Main Roads and Road Safety Mark Bailey said the safety of children, especially as they travel to and from school, was critically important.
“The Palaszczuk Government is delivering 25 new supervised school crossings across Queensland this financial year,” Mr Bailey said.
“With a total of 75 new supervised school crossings delivered over the next three financial years, these new crossings will provide greater road safety for Queensland school children for many years to come.
“The crossing supervisors do a tremendous job ensuring a safer road environment around our schools and educating our kids on road safety.
“Supervised school crossings encourage more children and pedestrians to use the crossing instead of other dangerous areas.
“Motorists also benefit from supervised school crossings by experiencing fewer delays.”
