Narangba United Football Club will soon be able to host night games and train well after dark thanks to a grant from the Queensland Government’s Get Playing Places and Spaces program. 

 

State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan MP, said that the Club was successful in their application for a $100,000 contribution to upgrade the lighting at their Harris Avenue fields.

 

“I’m very pleased to be able to announce this funding, which will help to deliver a much-needed lighting upgrade and support football in Narangba,” Mr Ryan said.

 

“The funding is part of a major investment in our local clubs and sporting groups to help establish new facilities, buy new equipment and encourage greater participation at the grassroots level.

 

“The new lighting will enable the Club to spend more time on the field, which in turn provides more opportunities for people to get involved and grow participation in sport in our area.”

 

Treasurer and Minister for Sport, Curtis Pitt, said the latest $16.5 million funding round included:

 

• more than $13 million to support 164 capital works projects in the latest round of the Get Playing Places and Spaces program providing up to $100,000 to develop new, upgraded or replacement sport and recreation infrastructure, and

• $3.5 million to 539 clubs and organisations under the Get Going Clubs program providing grants up to $7500 to encourage greater participation in sport and recreation in local communities.

 

“The government recognises the valuable contribution sport and sports clubs and associations make to communities right across our state,” Mr Pitt said.

 

“They are a vital part of each community and their contribution is often incalculable when it comes to the opportunities they provide for personal development and participation by people of all ages and abilities.”
