State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan joined Minister for Training and Skills Development Shannon Fentiman in congratulating United Synergies at Caboolture on being successful in the latest round of Skilling Queenslanders for Work funding.
“It’s wonderful to be able to support Queenslanders who have struggled to find work to provide the support they need to get a job and have a positive and bright future,” Ms Fentiman said.
“Our number one priority is job growth, right across the state, and it is clear that programs like Skilling Queenslanders for Work are doing just that.
“Skilling Queenslanders for Work has committed more than $21 million to 157 Get Set for Work projects, assisting up to 6,123 young people since the first round of funding was announced in September 2015.
“We know that more than two thirds of people who have finished a Get Set for Work project went on to either finding a job, pursuing further education and training or returning to school.”
Mr Ryan said the new funding would provide a welcome boost to supporting the Caboolture community into work.
“Connect2Employment is a hand-on program that will help local job seekers to feel confident and have the skills they need to be work read,” he said.
“Thanks to our Skilling Queenslanders for Work program, United Synergies can provide wrap around support, including assistance for women getting back into the workforce.”
United Synergies Education, Employment and Enterprise Manager Sean Connelly said participants can access a range of support through the project that will help them to reach their goals.
“Young people might need to address a variety of different issues to help them get ready for a job and planning for the future can be a pretty intimidating prospect. So some advice and guidance about different opportunities and challenges is helpful,” Mr Connelly said.
“The Connect2Employment – Caboolture participants study a Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways as part of the project and we also connect them with job mentors, develop their work and life skills – including writing better resumes and applications – and manage each person’s case individually, to respond to their needs and aims.
“Our projects will be recruiting more participants in the future and we hope to hear from any interested 15 to 19 year olds in the area who might be eligible to join and benefit from this project.”
Skilling Queenslanders for Work funds skills development, training and job opportunities for unemployed, disengaged or disadvantaged Queenslanders through a suite of targeted skills and training programs.
