The 2017-18 Queensland State Budget delivers for local schools with significant investment in building new infrastructure.
State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan said that $13.8 million was being invested in local schools for a range of important projects.
“It’s so important that our local schools have the infrastructure they need to provide a positive learning environment for our kids,” Mr Ryan said.
“That’s why the Palaszczuk Government is continuing to roll out more investment in capital works and maintenance for our schools.
“Locally, we’re seeing funding being delivered to construct additional classrooms at Caboolture Special School, Morayfield State High School and Narangba Valley State School.
“There’s also funding being provided for refurbishments and other enhancement projects at six local schools.”
Funding has been allocated for the following projects:
• $7.5 million for additional classrooms at Caboolture Special School;
• $3 million for additional classrooms at Narangba Valley State School;
• $2 million for additional classrooms at Morayfield State High School;
• $350,000 to refurbish Block G Special Ed at Morayfield East State School;
• $250,000 to refurbish Blocks 2 and 27 at Caboolture East State School;
• $250,000 to refurbish the Teaching Block at Tullawong State School;
• $200,000 for infrastructure enhancements at Narangba Valley State School;
• $200,000 to refurbish Block U at Caboolture State High School;
• $50,000 of refurbished amenities at Caboolture Special School
Mr Ryan said that the Palaszczuk Government was also putting money into delivering extra teachers, specialist teachers, more teacher aides and additional guidance officers to support students.
“We know that a school is more than just the infrastructure, which is why we’re continuing to invest in our Extra Teachers commitment and providing more teachers and teacher aides for our schools,” Mr Ryan said.
“The Government is also investing $150 million over three years to attract the best teachers to Queensland schools.
“Education is a top priority and I look forward to continuing to work with our local school communities on achieving positive outcomes for our students.”
