The Burpengary Jets Netball Club are celebrating this week with the official opening of their newly upgraded court and new storage/operations shed.
State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan MP, said that the Queensland Government had contributed more than $38,000 to the courts upgrade under the Get Playing Places and Spaces program and $20,000 under the Gambling Community Benefit Fund to build the shed.
"I’m very excited about this upgrade and what it means for the club and the community," Mr Ryan said.
"The venue’s four netball courts are now in excellent condition with new plexipave surfaces, which means players and spectators can expect a safer and more enjoyable netball experience.
"The new courts and shed will also increase the accessibility of this growing sport in our region by allowing the Burpengary Jets to promote its facilities and increase its membership.
"It will also benefit local schools, which now have the option of using the venue instead of transporting students further afield for interschool competitions.
"The court upgrade project has been a joint effort of the Queensland Government, the Moreton Bay Regional Council and the Club itself.
"I want to particularly acknowledge the Club’s leadership for having the vision and energy to drive this project to fruition and I look forward to continuing to work with them into the future."
Get Playing Places and Spaces is one of four funding programs that make up Get in the Game, a $100 million government investment over the next two years to support grassroots sport and recreation.
