While Morayfield State High School students and teachers enjoyed a well-earned summer break, local tradies were hard at work refurbishing the school’s J Block.
As he inspected the refurbishment, State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan, said the work was part of the Queensland Government’s record four-year, $763 million school maintenance program.
“When students returned to school last week, they noticed a big difference here at Morayfield High, but also at other schools across the region,” Mr Ryan said.
“We are committed to ensuring that every child has access to a quality education and that includes quality school facilities.”
Mr Ryan said that $200,000 was allocated to refurbish J Block.
“This work was completed during the school holidays to ensure as little disruption as possible to classes,” Mr Ryan said.
“The Queensland Labor Government is not only building better schools in our local community, we are also providing valuable jobs for tradies and training opportunities for apprentices.
“Our investment in school maintenance is expected to create more than 3,000 full-time jobs.
“And we are determined to fix the $260 million backlog of school maintenance left by the previous LNP Government.
Mr Ryan said local contractors and suppliers could still pre-register for school maintenance work online at http://www.education.qld.gov.au/
