Queenslanders are invited to have their say on how vocational education and training (VET) can remain responsive to the changing labour market, with the release of the Skills for Queensland discussion paper.
State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan said it was important that investment in VET considers growth industries and the occupations likely to develop in the future.
“Vocational education and training plays a fundamental role in providing the skills needed by our local industries to fill priority jobs across a wide range of occupations and trades,” he said.
“The Palaszczuk Government’s number one priority is creating jobs and helping more Queenslanders gain the skills they need to participate in a growing economy.
“I want local people to have their say on how we can ensure we have job-ready graduates where they’re needed most.
“Whether you are an employer needing an apprentice or trainee, or you work in an industry needing to develop your future workforce, we want to know how VET can deliver the opportunities to help your business grow.
“The jobs of tomorrow will require more workers with the technical skills to keep up with the rapid changes in technology and automation.
“We want your feedback, so we can make sure all our local residents have the right skills and training to secure sustainable employment for their future.”
The Skills for Queensland discussion paper is open for feedback until Friday, 19 October 2018. Have your say by visiting www.qld.gov.au/skillsforqueensland or contacting us on 1300 369 935.
