State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan has announced that community consultation is set to get underway for a new special school in Caboolture.
Mr Ryan invited interested community members to take part in one of four community consultation meetings during August.
“We are keen to hear from local residents and interested community members on our plan to build a new special school in Caboolture,” Mr Ryan said.
“The new school is set to open for the start of the 2020 school year.
“Our goal is to deliver a school that best meets the educational needs of students and aligns with community expectations.
“As we have promised from the outset, we want to engage the community in the process to determine the preferred model and site options for the planned new school.”
Mr Ryan said the new school will relieve pressure on the existing Caboolture Special School, which is the second largest special school in Queensland.
“The upcoming meetings will allow the community to actively engage and look openly at options and solutions for a possible location,” he said.
“One of our preferred solutions would see a new special school built within the existing Caboolture State High School site.
“We invite everyone who has an interest in this exciting development to join us at one of the community meetings.”
