Fatality Free Friday – Make Your Road Safety Pledge

18 May 2018

State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan, today urged people in our region to pay particular attention to road safety ahead of Fatality Free Friday on 25 May.

Fatality Free Friday is an annual community-based road safety campaign lead by the Australian Road Safety Foundation.

“Fatality Free Friday asks people to promise to take extra care on the roads on 25 May,” said Mark Ryan, “but I’m asking everyone in our local area to make the choice to drive safely, every day of the year.”

“If you’re having a night out, organise a Plan B by pre-arranging a lift, catching public transport or taking a cab,’’ he said.

‘‘One road fatality is one too many, which is why I’m pleased to support this really important community campaign,’’ he said.

Mark Ryan said every road user had a role to play every day of the year.

“Whether you’re a motorist, passenger, cyclist, motorbike rider or pedestrian, we can all make a difference when it comes to keeping our roads safe,” he said.

‘‘We all make choices each time we get behind the wheel and in some cases, these choices can have devastating consequences.

‘‘I’d urge all Queenslanders to make the Fatality Free Friday pledge by visiting www.fatilityfreefriday.com
