Year 11 students from across the region are participating in trial external assessments as the new senior assessment system takes shape.
State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan MP, said the trial was part of the State Government’s reforms to senior assessment and tertiary entrance system.
“These students will be sitting the first subject-based external assessments Queensland in more than four decades,” Mr Ryan said.
“The Palaszczuk Government is working to modernise our senior assessment and tertiary entrance to improve educational outcomes for students.
“The trial will help us plan for the wider use of external assessments from 2019 and prepare students and schools for successful participation in them.”
Mr Ryan said that two schools in the Morayfield State Electorate were included in the trial:
- Narangba Valley State High School
- St Eugene College
“Local students and teachers will be able to use this opportunity to prepare for the new system,” he said.
“Participating gives schools a great opportunity to shape a system that will provide the best outcomes for students.
“Parents and carers can be reassured that because this is a trial, there will be no impact on students’ Year 12 exit results or on their OP rank for tertiary entrance.”
