Morayfield residents can now get a first glimpse of their new-look station, with designs of the multimillion dollar upgrade released today.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Transport Jackie Trad said the upgrade to the station was part of the Palaszczuk Government’s commitment to fixing the trains by putting the commuter first.
“Across the network we are upgrading stations to make them clean, modern and accessible as part of our commitment to fixing the trains and modernising Queensland Rail,” Ms Trad said.
“The project is part of the Palaszczuk Government’s $212 million investment over the next five years to upgrade train stations and improve accessibility across the South East Queensland network.”
State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan said following an extensive design process, he was excited to release the concept designs to the local community.
“Upgrading Morayfield Station will improve transport options for passengers on the Caboolture line and also support more than 250 jobs during construction,” Mr Ryan said.
“I’m incredibly excited to share these designs with the local community and I invite locals to provide their thoughts.
“Listening to locals is incredibly important to me so I invite the community to provide their comments or concerns, so the design can be refined if required.”
Mr Ryan said that once the design plans are finalised, preliminary construction is expected to start by the end of the year.
“Throughout next year there will be major construction works as our train station upgrade takes shape,” Mr Ryan said.
“The upgrade will deliver a modern and accessible station and ensure that everyone, including wheelchair users, the elderly and parents with prams, can travel safely and easily.
“Improvements will include a new footbridge and lifts, raised platforms in core zones, accessible toilets, extended waiting shelters and a range of other accessibility features, such as hearing aid loops.
“The upgrade will also provide accessible parking and improved security features, such as upgraded lighting and CCTV.”
