A new MyTransLink app upgrade will allow local commuters to use their smartphone to receive personal audio announcements on public transport and track their journey step-by-step.
State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan MP, said the release of the new real-time app delivers on the Palaszczuk Government’s election commitment to put more information in the palm of passengers’ hands and make public transport services more accessible.
“This new upgrade to the MyTransLink app means passengers on buses or trains can now track their trips stop-by-stop and switch on announcements of upcoming stops and stations,” Mr Ryan said.
“It will be particularly beneficial for passengers with visual impairment.”
Mr Ryan said with the upgrade, travellers can follow their journey on their device with a map and on-screen list of stops and listen to where their bus or train is on the network.
“Once you get on board, you can follow your current location on a map while the announcer feature notifies you which stop you’re approaching along the route,” Mr Ryan said.
Passengers can also set an alarm on the app to alert them when they are within 400 metres of their stop.
The free MyTransLink app has been downloaded more than 350,000 times and is used by an average of 60,000 travellers each week.
The app allows travellers to save their favourite services and stops as well as be notified of any disruptions or changes on the network.
