Are your kids ready to Get Started in sport this year?

19 January 2018

Local kids will have the opportunity to start 2018 on the right foot and get involved in sport or recreation with Round 11 of the popular Get Started Vouchers program opening 24 January 2018.

State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan said the Queensland Government had committed more than $5.6 million to this latest round of the Get Started Vouchers program.

“Last year we saw more than 53,000 vouchers issued to Queensland kids to get involved in sport, which was a record number,” Mr Ryan said.

“Let’s make sure we continue this push to get our kids actively participating in sport and recreation again this year.

“As vouchers are issued on a first come, first served basis, I’m urging all eligible families to apply as soon as the round opens next week.”

Mr Ryan said the Get Started Vouchers program helped Queensland children whose families could least afford the costs associated with joining a sport or recreation club.

“The vouchers provide up to $150 to help eligible children cover the cost of membership or participation fees at their local sport or recreation club,” he said.

“Overall more than 200,000 vouchers have been issued to Queensland families since the program was introduced.

“With more than 4,000 clubs across Queensland registered for the Get Started Vouchers program, there is a huge range of activities on offer to cater for all ages and abilities.”

Get Started Vouchers is a program under the Queensland Government’s Get in the Game funding initiative, aimed at supporting grassroots sport and recreation in our community.
