Local sport and recreation clubs are being urged to apply for funding under the Queensland Government’s popular Get Going Clubs and Get Playing Places and Spaces program.
State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan MP, said that a combined $14.5 million in funding was up for grabs in the latest round of the program.
"To date, we’ve seen some great local projects come to fruition with the help of funding from these programs," Mr Ryan said.
"Locally, Get Going Clubs has assisted Narangba United Football Club to conduct coach education sessions and Burpengary Pony Club to purchase an equipment trailer, while Get Playing Places and Spaces has helped Caboolture Little Athletics upgrade lighting at Wolfenden Oval and Burpengary Jets Netball to upgrade their courts."
Mr Ryan said that recent changes to each program’s guidelines will make Round 5 funding more accessible to eligible organisations.
"For Get Going Clubs, the changes mean funding can be sought across the three program areas – education and training, participation and equipment.
"In Get Playing Places and Spaces, additional supporting infrastructure to ensure participation have been added as eligible projects.
"I’m proud that this Government is providing more opportunities for Queenslanders to participate in sport and active recreation and getting more people outdoors, staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle."
Get Going Clubs and Get Playing Places and Spaces are two of four funding programs that make up the Get in the Game initiative.
Get Going Clubs provides funding of up to $7,500 to help clubs provide participation opportunities in the community, while Get Playing Places and Spaces provides grants of up to $100,000 for new or upgraded sport and recreation infrastructure projects.
