Community Spirit Shines Through in Cyclone Alfred Recovery
MEDIA RELEASE
Mark Ryan MP – State Member for Morayfield
Date:
Communities, residents, and businesses right across South East Queensland are beginning to reflect on the impact of Tropical Cyclone Alfred, the first cyclone to hit our region in over half a century.
While the experience of this natural disaster has varied from place to place, Mark Ryan MP has extended his thoughts to all those affected, particularly those dealing with property damage, personal hardship, or ongoing recovery challenges.
“Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by Cyclone Alfred,” Mr Ryan said. “Whether it was damage to your home, your business, or simply the stress and uncertainty that came with this event—please know you’re not alone. My office and I are here to support you in any way we can.”
Mr Ryan paid tribute to the many individuals and organisations who stepped up when the community needed them most.
“Our sincere thanks to the amazing emergency services personnel, council staff, Defense Force members, and the countless volunteers who responded swiftly and selflessly during and after the cyclone. Your efforts kept people safe and helped our community through one of its most testing times.”
As the clean-up and rebuilding continues in the weeks ahead, Mr Ryan urged locals to stay connected and check in on one another.
“Natural disasters may pass, but their effects often linger. That’s why it’s so important that we reach out, support each other, and let people know they don’t have to face recovery alone.”
“If you or someone you know needs help, whether it’s advice, support services, or just someone to speak to, please contact my office. We are here to help.”
